Designer Mode and User Mode

Two modes are available in a Jedox Spreadsheet: Designer Mode and User Mode.

Designer Mode is used to create an application. It allows you to create worksheets with formulas, formats, etc. You can select the cells available for data input in User Mode by going to Design > Format Cells... > Protection > Lock Cells and selecting Locked or Unlocked.

Users who are assigned Viewer or Web Planner licenses or are designated as End Users can only log in to Jedox in User Mode. In User Mode, you cannot create new spreadsheets, and you can only work with the applications that are created in the Designer Mode. You may only enter data into cells that are unlocked.

User Mode preview in the Designer Mode

You can switch to a preview of the User Mode from the Design tab of the spreadsheet ribbon:

This option is also available in Insert:

In the preview, you cannot make any changes to the application, or switch to other sheets. Also, links to other worksheets are not executed.

To close the preview, click the Close button.

At the bottom right-hand side in the Jedox Spreadsheet worksheet, you can see the mode you are currently in:

As long as a worksheet is open in User Mode, Designer Mode cannot be accessed.
